Take better pictures with a 60 second primer from idigitalphoto. Although it’s a bit longer than 60 seconds, you can focus on the lighting, flash, and composition sections.
When the sun is high and the light is hard, don’t fight it to try to get it all. Concentrate on exposing the bright parts properly and work with the shapes of shadows.
Aside from that, I recommend using natural features as a frame around the border of the picture. If you’re taking some party pictures of people, make sure not to give them more than 2 seconds to pose.
